I think this is the best chocolate dessert in the world. Susie Gumberts, my mother, began this family classic, and I was raised on it, as were my children. It is made by layering and surrounding a light chocolate mousse with homemade lady fingers. We usually think of soaking ladyfingers with a dessert syrup, but while chilling, the ladyfingers soak up all the mousse and become wonderfully moist.
You can enjoy this charming dessert alone with coffee or even after a filling meal.
