This is delicious with any chocolate cake. Coffee Essence is a good keeper and will last for weeks stored at room temperature.


  • 1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 8 egg yolks


Prepare as for Classic Buttercream, following each step with the following difference:

After adding the butter, add the 2 to 4 tablespoons Coffee Essence.
