Combining this soaking syrup with a flavoring, such as a liqueur, creates a syrup used in assembling some desserts.

Ingredients

  • 10 ounces ( cups) water
  • 1 pound ( cups) granulated sugar

Method

Pour the water into a -quart saucepan. Add the sugar; stir to blend; then bring to a boil over medium heat.

Remove from heat and cool. Pour into a container with a lid and refrigerate up to 6 months.
