In Italy and Mexico, salsa means sauce, but in America “salsa” has come to mean a mixture of chopped raw or mostly raw ingredients, usually dolloped on foods (or eaten with chips) as a condiment. The most popular salsas contain chopped tomatoes, but salsas often include avocados, chilies, corn, onions, garlic, and various herbs and spices. This one features tropical fruits enlivened with chilies and grilled bell peppers.
