Cream cheese frosting will pretty much go with anything, from banana bread to chocolate cake, so do try it on other bakes too. It is important that the cream cheese and butter are at room temperature before making, so take both out of the fridge well in advance.
Add the cream cheese and butter to the bowl of a free-standing mixer and beat using the paddle attachment until well combined. Sieve in the sugar, add the vanilla and continue to beat until everything is smooth. If lumps are evident, pass through a sieve.
