Piero Selvaggio has a fabulous restaurant in Los Angeles called Valentino. I try to get there when I am out west. One night, I was there on Mother’s Day. In the next room, a private one, was a party that turned out to be made up of Piero and his wife, their children, and his mother, as well as the same complement for Wolfgang Puck. Their happiness was the best memory of the evening. The next best was the following soup.
