This recipe was passed down to my mom by a family friend over a decade ago and we’ve yet to see a Christmas morning without it since. We typically eat it alongside a pile of cheese grits and one (or two) servings of our homemade cinnamon rolls. In my opinion, it is the definition of comfort food and the best thing to whip up in a pinch.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, then whisk in the milk. Whisk in the dried mustard and salt. Add the sausage, bread, and cheese and stir to incorporate. Let sit at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
