It looks like murky Mississippi River water but tastes like a heaven filled with licorice. This simple-to-make but profoundly flavorful drink was a favorite of my grandmother’s friend Thelma, who’d hold this old-time favorite in one hand, rattling the glass’s ice, while stroking her chihuahua Tippy in the other.
