My family was never into drinking wine, and the complimentary sangría we were given at an over-the-top “Mexican” restaurant in Baton Rouge didn’t help the situation. That deeply red, sickly sweet version always gave each of us a “second smile”—and quite the hangover. Needless to say, I’ve been delighted to discover more dignified recipes for the beverage.
