  • 2 cups (14 oz/400 gm) Jasmine rice

Method

    Using a Rice Cooker

  1. Rinse rice in a mesh strainer or colander under cool running water for 30 seconds, massaging it gently to remove any talc or dust. Drain well.
  2. Transfer to a rice cooker and add water. Even out rice surface with your hands. Turn the cooker on (or Follow manufacturers directions).
  3. When rice is done, fluff gently with a fork or wooden spoon.

    Using a Pot on the Stovetop

  1. Rinse rice in a mesh strainer or colander under cool running water for 30 seconds, massaging it gently to remove any talc or dust. Drain well..
  2. Transfer to a saucepan with tight fitting lid. Even out rice surface with your hands. Add the water, plus two tablespoons of additional water to compensate for evaporation.
  3. Bring rice to a boil, uncovered. Give it one quick stir, and then cover it tightly. Lower flame to lowest setting, and simmer rice for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove pan from heat (do not uncover!). Allow rice to rest, covered, for 10 minutes, before fluffing gently with a fork or wooden spoon and serving.
