This is a bread you either make for breakfast to have with lashings of pure butter or to have with poached fruits and lots of clotted cream for dessert, whatever your preference. Either way, it tastes fantastic and is very straightforward to make.

Ingredients

  • 50 g dried figs
  • 50 g pitted dates
  • 100 g

Method

  1. Slice figs, dates and apricots into a bowl, then add raisins. Pour in boiling water to cover fruit and leave for 5 minutes. Strain fruit, discarding water.
  2. Mix flour, salt, spices and reconstituted fruit in bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook.
  3. Dissolve yeast and brown sugar in warm milk, then stir in beaten egg. Add yeast mixture to flo
