A wedge of sweet, orange-fleshed pawpaw (papaya) refreshed with a squeeze of lime was standard breakfast fare for me on school days when I was growing up in Kenya. Sitting on the veranda looking to the Ngong Hills, with lizards running up and down the wall of the house and colourful butterflies landing on the papery bougainvillea pet
