Named for Maryland’s state flower and served at the iconic Preakness Stakes, the black-eyed Susan is a zesty, sun-kissed cocktail. With vodka, bourbon or rum, and plenty of citrus and tropical fruit flavors, it channels the energy of race day at Pimlico and the bold, breezy charm of the Old Line State.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, bourbon, orange juice, pineapple juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup. Shake well until chilled. Strain into an ice-filled highball or collins glass. Garnish with the orange slice, lime wheel, and cherry. Serve.
