I eat tonnes of purple sprouting broccoli and rejoice when the first bunches appear near the end of March. Don’t pick off the leaves, as I have occasionally witnessed, as this is odd behaviour.
To make the sauce, pour the milk into a large saucepan. Peel the garlic and add the whole cloves to the pan along with the rosemary sprig. Bring to the boil - making sure the saucepan is large enough to allow the milk to boil without bubbling over the sides; I find boiled-over milk one of the greatest kitchen inconveniences.
