Hot coffee seems correct at breakfast, but out of place as the hot day wears on. This is where the iced coffee truly comes into its own. Be careful though: because it’s so delicious, you could easily drink too many and then your eyes would pop out and roll through the croquet hoops, and minutes later you would explode.
Pour the espresso into a jug and stir in the cocoa powder and coffee essence until smooth. Put the ice cubes in a clean tea-towel and bash with a rolling pin to break into chunky pieces.
Half-fill 2 tall glasses with the ice and pour over the coffee mixture. Top up with the cold milk and serve.
