Sometimes, suddenly one has a yearning to indulge in the orgy of a good old-fashioned steamed pudding. How can we be expected to survive the long gloom of winter if we don’t occasionally give ourselves a treat, such as this lovely pudding? The apples and tangy pieces of whole lemon impart their flavour as they cook in the butter and brown sugar juices and all are enclosed in a golden suet crust pastry. Doesn’t it tempt you as a pudding for Sunday lunch?
