A mixture of peanuts and popcorn coated in caramel is a popular snack in the US, traditionally sold in cardboard boxes. Today they are more likely to be sold in a bag, but the delicious flavours, replicated in this recipe, remain the same. You can buy cardboard boxes for serving this from specialist stores or on-line.

Method

Warm the oil in a heavy pan with a lid over a medium-high heat.
Add the popcorn and cover with the lid. Cook, shaking occasionally, until the popping stops (it will take a few minutes). Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl.
