When I arrived at my husband’s childhood home, my mother-in-law Josy already had all the Bretzeli making paraphernalia arranged on her kitchen table: her black and white handwritten notebook of recipes, an assortment of wooden spoons, two bottles of ‘the good Most (the apple cider from Mosterei Möhl) and of course her beautiful beige Jura Brezeleisen. I was there to be initiated into the family’s Bretzeli making.
