Ovomaltine adds some extra sandiness to this double chocolate cookie. The highlight is the rim - first brushed with egg white and then rolled in Ovo - which has a delightfully sticky bite. More on Ovo.
Cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
Sift together the flour, Ovomaltine, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into the butter mixture. Stir in the chopped chocolate.
Form into two logs about 5 cm in diameter, wrap in plastic, and chill in the fridge for about an hour, or until Arm.
