French Dressing

Most people have their own way of making French dressing and adding different things to it. I am always changing mine but one cheating addition which I feel rather ashamed to disclose but which seems to make a great difference, is a sprinkling of Knorr Aromat Savoury Seasoning or another seasoning called Accent.


  • one third red wine vinegar
  • a generous two thirds olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon soft brown sugar (for about 7 fl oz/200 ml of dressing)
  • 1 teaspoon mild French mustard – preferably the whole seed type
  • a generous sprinkling of black pepper and crushed sea salt
  • a sprinkling of Knorr Aromat Seasoning to taste


Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly. I find much the easiest way to mix a dressing is to put the ingredients into a jam jar with a screw-on lid and then shake together vigorously.
