  • About

This steamed cabbage is both a side and a main dish in Jamaica. Sometimes it’s served alongside a delicious cut of salted cod fish. It’s incredible and packed with flavor. The carrots hold a bit of crunch that is satisfying with each bite, and the DinnerPlus seasonings really take this up a notch.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 5 fresh thyme sprigs
  • 3 cloves

Method

In a large lidded skillet over medium-high heat, melt the coconut oil. Add the thyme, garlic, green onions, yellow onion, and Scotch bonnet and cook, stirring continuously to prevent burning, for 1–2 minutes to infuse the oil with flavor.

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the cabbage, shredded carrots, and butter (if using). Cover the pan and steam the cabbage until softened, 12–16 min
