Plain steamed rice often has grains, beans and lentils added to create the Korean favourite ogokbap. These extra ingredients give more of a crunch to the dish’s texture, and impart exotic combinations of flavours. Families will eat ogokbap at the first full moon of the year, as it is believed that sharing the dish will bring good luck for the coming year.
