This is not a usual Northern Isles bannock like a beremeal bannock; nor is it a Hebridean bannock which can be more like an oatcake. It is a big bulging sweet enriched bread, not dissimilar to a Selkirk Bannock but also resembling the fruit puddings often seen in butchers across the Hebrides.

Alongside the black and white puddings hang fruit puddings, which are fried alongside breakfast bacon or served as pudding with custard.
