Method

Prepare the mise en place.

Place the butter on a sheet of parchment paper and, using a rolling pin, lightly pound on it to soften.

Combine the bread flour, milk, softened butter, yeast, sugar, and salt in the bowl of a standing electric mixer fitted with the hook. Mix on low speed for 5 minutes.
