A hearty main meal salad, this combines tender strips of sirloin steak with thinly shredded cucumber and a wonderfully piquant chilli and lime dressing.
Panfry the steaks in a large, heavy frying pan over a medium heat. Cook them for 4-6 minutes for rare, 6-8 minutes for medium-rare and about 10 minutes for well done, depending on their thickness. (In Thailand the beef is traditionally served quite rare.) Alternatively, cook them under a preheated grill (broiler). Remove the steaks from the pan and leave to rest for 1
