  • About

It isn’t easy finding a good before-dinner munch that is both easy to prepare and not filling. These crackers are simple, quick, and not perishable. You can serve them warm or at room temperature. They can be made well ahead of time and then briefly warmed in a low oven.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • cups chilled shortening
  • 1 teaspoon

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix until crumbly the flour, shortening, salt and ¼ cup of the cheese. In another bowl, beat the egg, vinegar, and water.

  2. Combine the flour and egg mixtures, and knead until the dough forms a ball. (This procedure can be done in the work bowl of a food processor fitted with the plastic dough blade. Pulse two or three times; do not overmix.)
