This is a Thanksgiving vegetable that was a tradition at Kathy’s family table for as long as she can remember.
In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and add the onions, lettuce, peas, thyme, salt and pepper, sugar, 2 tablespoons chopped parsley and the 2 sprigs, and water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the parsley stems when the onions are tender.
