This started as a condiment, but it turned out to be a great dessert with a refreshingly tangy flavor and a bright color.

Ingredients

  • cups superfine sugar
  • 1⅓ cups water
  • 1 cup

Method

  1. In a small saucepan combine half the sugar with ⅔ cup water. Stir to dissolve and bring to a boil. Add the cranberries. Simmer gently for 5 minutes, just until the berries start to pop.

  2. Remove from the heat and pour into a small bowl. Allow the berries to come to room temperature before chilling. Cover and chill at least 4 hours; for best results, refr
