The traditional candied fruit mixture includes cherries as well as orange or other citrus peel. If you are unable to find candied cherries, you may substitute maraschino cherries. Cut them in half, then stem, rinse, and dry thoroughly. The green color of angelica adds a nice contrast if you can find it. Please do not substitute artificially colored green cherries.
