This dessert was originally created for a Valentine’s Day dinner. Cupid’s Treasure Chest also makes a beautiful presentation on many other occasions when a romantic dessert is called for, such as an anniversary dinner or engagement celebration. For an engagement dinner, you can place two interlocking marzipan rings on the chocolate shavings under the lid.

Both the chocolate cases and the lids can be made in advance. The treasure chest lid can be used alone to garnish a slice of cake
