Silk screens can be used to create incredibly detailed images on thin sheets of sponge cake. These are most often cut into strips and used to decorate the sides of cakes or pastries. A silk screen can also be used to print a design on a thin sheet of rolled marzipan (directions follow), in which case the marzipan is usually placed on the top of a cake. Silk screens come in many patterns. Some are abstract, such as marbled or swirled designs; others depict musical notes, fruits, or flowers;
