  • About

Simplicity is what makes a perfect apple pie. I’ve done a lot of homework to create the perfect pie filling—from the types of apples to use, to the perfect amount of sugar—but one thing is for sure. Adding brown butter makes an amazing apple pie.

Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 4 Gala apples, peeled, cored and diced into ½-inch (1 cm) cubes
  • 1 cup (250 mL) canned apple

Method

For Apple Filling

In a medium saucepan, cook the diced apple, canned apple filling, brown butter, dried apple, and brown sugar over medium heat until simmering.

In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and cornstarch, then whisk it into the simmering apple filling. Add the apple juice and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes while stirring with a wooden spoo
