  • About

Flat breads are a great accompaniment to vegetarian dishes. They can be served with chutneys and pickles or as part of a main meal. Chapatis are dry-roasted on an iron griddle (tawa). The dough can also be used to make phulkas, which puff up like balloons under the grill and are delicious spread with melted butter.

Ingredients

  • 400 g/14 oz/ cups chapati flour (atta) or fine wholemeal (whole-wheat) flour<

Method

  1. Mix the flour and salt together in a mixing bowl. Gradually add the water.

  2. Continue to mix with your fingers until a dough is formed.
