Ingredients

  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup

Method

  1. Cream together the shortening and butter until smooth. Stream in the sugar gradually while beating, continuing to beat until it looks light and fluffy.
  2. Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt together and set them aside.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla and beat well.
  4. Add the flour mixture, a third at a time, mixing until all batches are well
