Ingredients

  • 2lb/1 kg damsons
  • 2lb/1 kg ripe pears
  • 1/2 pint/250 ml water
  • 4lb/2 kg sugar

Method

Wash the damsons and put them into a pan. Peel and core the pears and add them to the damsons with the water. Simmer until soft, removing damson stones as they rise to the surface. Stir in the sugar over low heat until dissolved. Boil hard to setting point, pour into hot jars and cover.
