  • 7lb/3.5 kg tomatoes

Method

Use either red or green tomatoes or a mixture. Slice the tomatoes. Peel, core and chop the apples. Chop the onions and dates. Put all the ingredients except the sugar into a pan and simmer for 1 hour until soft. Put through a sieve and return to pan with the sugar. Stir over low heat until the sugar has dissolved, bring to the boil, and simmer for 45 minutes until thick. Put into hot bottles an
