Peel the lemons very thinly and put the peel into a bowl. Pour on 1 pint/500ml boiling water and stir in the wine. Leave to stand for 30 minutes. Put into a pan with the juice of the lemons and the sugar. Bring slowly to the boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Boil for 10 minutes and then strain.
