  • 8 fl oz cold water
  • 1½ tablespoons coarse oatmeal
  • 1 saltspoon salt


    Use the quantities above for each person. Bring the water to the boil and start stirring it while you run the oatmeal in from your hand. Stir very well to prevent lumps forming. Season with the salt, and bring to the boil. Cover with a lid and simmer for thirty minutes.
