  • 6 slices bread and butter
  • 6oz grated cheese
  • ½ pint milk
  • 2 eggs


    Butter a shallow ovenware dish. Line with bread and butter, and cover the bread thickly with cheese. Put on the remaining bread with the buttered side upwards. Beat the milk and eggs together and pour over the bread. Leave for one hour. Bake at 425°F, 220°C, gas mark 7 for thirty minutes; eat at once while very hot.
