  • About

  • 8 apples
  • 2-3oz butter
  • 2½oz granulated sugar
  • 4-5 tablespoons water
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 8 slices bread
  • Bacon as required

Core the apples and cut them into half-inch slices without peeling them. Heat 1 oz butter and fry the apple rings golden-brown on one side. Sprinkle with sugar, turn, and fry. Sprinkle with water and simmer three minutes.

Heat the remaining butter in another frying pan. Combine the eggs and milk and dip the bread slices in it. Fry the bread until light brown on both sides, turning once. To serve, place a slice of this fried French toast on each plate, top with equal portions of fried apples, and surround with hot, crisp bacon.
