Peel and slice apples and fry them in hot butter. Mix the milk, eggs and flour. Stir in the apples and butter. Put in a greased seven-inch sponge sandwich tin and bake at 375°F, 190°C, gas mark 5 for twenty minutes. Turn out, sprinkle with sugar, and brown in the oven or under the grill.
