  • 4oz butter
  • 8oz granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup


    Put the butter into a heavy pan and let it start melting over a low heat. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until the sugar has melted. Bring to the boil; boil quickly, only stirring occasionally, until the mixture is golden-brown and a little dropped into cold water is brittle. Pour into a greased shallow tin and mark into squares just before it sets.
