Ingredients

  • 4lb apples
  • 2Β½lb shredded suet
  • 3Β½lb dark soft brown sugar
  • 3lb currants
  • 2ΒΌlb raisins
  • 1Β½lb finely-chopped peel
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon mixed spice
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves

    Method

    Peel and core the apples, and simmer them in very little water until soft. Leave overnight. Mix with all the other ingredients and put in jars.
