  • 3oz plain flour
  • 1oz shredded suet
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 small onion, finely-chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 heaped tablespoon chopped mixed herbs


    Mix together the flour, suet and baking powder. Add the very finely-chopped onion, salt and pepper and chopped herbs. Mix to a light dough with cold water. Form into small balls and roll them lightly in flour. Put into soup or stew and simmer for twenty minutes.
