  • 4 lemons
  • 2lb sugar
  • 1 teaspoon oil of lemon
  • 1 dessertspoon tartaric acid
  • 1 quart Boiling water


    Squeeze the lemons over the sugar in a basin. Add the oil and acid. Pour on the boiling water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and leave until cold. Pour into bottles and cork firmly. Store in a cool place, and dilute with water to taste.
