Remove the stones from the damsons, and crack twelve of them. Pour one quart water over the damsons and cracked stones and leave for twenty-four hours. Boil for fifteen minutes, then strain the liquid over the elderberries. Leave again for twenty-four hours and bring to boiling point. Add the sugar and simmer for ten minutes.
