  • 3 eggs
  • 2 pints milk
  • 1 pint ale
  • 4oz caster sugar
  • a little grated nutmeg


    Bring the ale to the boil in a saucepan, then set aside. Beat the eggs, and stir in the milk, pour this mixture into the ale. Add the sugar and nutmeg, and heat slowly, but do not boil. Let it thicken, stirring meanwhile. Serve very hot.
