This is one of the first dishes that Adrian can remember cooking. It was his first day living on a communal farm in Israel, and, it being a Friday, the shops had closed early. As he sat in the garden and wondered what he might eat for dinner, he noticed a vine growing in a corner and, in a moment of inspiration and true to the spirit of our grandmother, picked some vine leaves and mint from the garden. Finding rice in the cupboard, he made this wonderful meal that was enjoyed by all.
