  • About

This pleasingly tart preserve may be made with sour (morello) cherries if cornelian cherries are unavailable. It is unnecessary to remove the small pits in cornelian cherries before cooking, but if sour cherries are used, they should be pitted. Variations on this preserve are found throughout the Middle East (interestingly, the Georgian word muraba has counterparts in both Persian and Hindi).
