Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the center. Beat the egg lightly and combine it with the water, mixing well. Pour the liquid into the well gradually as you stir with a pair of chopsticks or a wooden spoon until the mixture becomes a coarse meal. Push and knead it into a ball.
